EURIKAS
Proud to introduce a new fully bio-based coating
Eurikas is proud to introduce a new fully bio-based coating that can be easily applied on paper and board packaging. This is ideal for avoiding microplastics in the environment because it eliminates the need for synthetic polymers that contribute to microplastic pollution.

Here’s why:

1. No synthetic polymers

  • Traditional coatings on paper and board, such as polyethylene (PE) or polyvinyl chloride (PVC), break down into microplastics over time.
  • Our fully bio-based coating Eurika®Coat 1228-BF is 100% made from renewable materials that do not degrade into harmful plastic particles.

2. Biodegradability & compostability

  • Unlike conventional plastic coatings, biobased coatings are designed to break down naturally.
  • They decompose into organic matter instead of persisting in the environment as microplastics.

3. Water and grease resistance without plastics

  • Traditional plastic coatings provide water and grease resistance but contribute to pollution.
  • Eurika®Coat 1228-FB achieves the same functionality using natural waxes and biopolymers, avoiding plastic contamination.

4. Safe for recycling and circular economy

  • Paper and board packaging with synthetic plastic coatings can be difficult to recycle, leading to plastic contamination in recycling streams.
  • The use of a bio-based coating such as Eurika®Coat 1228-FB allows for easier recyclability, supporting a circular economy and reducing waste.

5. Non-toxic & eco-friendly

  • Synthetic plastic coatings may release toxic chemicals and microplastics into food, water, and the environment.
  • Eurika®Coat 1228-FB is free from petroleum-based substances, making it safer for human health and ecosystems.
